Venetian Night: The Power of Corporate Sponsorship

After browsing through some articles this morning, I found this article particularly interesting. It reminded me how powerful corporate sponsorship can be. Not only has Venetian Night been a tradition for over 50 years in Chicago; it has been a defining festival that makes summertime in Chicago so spectacular.

Unfortunately for many events around the country the absence of a corporate sponsor has become a trend. We've seen the evidence in NASCAR with the Jack Daniel's No. 7 car being in jeopardy, and the elimination of a PGA tour stop in Milwaukee, WI.

If you are involved with a property, how has the economy affected your traditional corporate sponsors, and what have you done to combat the challenges?
